Why is Easter Related to Eggs
Eggs are a powerful image of life, recharging and resurrection going back centuries. The egg was embraced by early Christians as an image of the restoration of Jesus Christ on Easter. The hard shell of the egg addresses the burial chamber and the arising chick addresses Jesus, whose revival vanquished demise. The custom of eating eggs on Easter is attached to Lent, the six-week time frame before Easter during which Christians generally swore off every creature item, including meat, dairy and eggs.
The advanced custom of eating chocolate eggs at Easter is a fun, kid-accommodating turn on this old strict custom, which started in Europe during the mid nineteenth century.
