- To make cabbage beef soup, heat oil in a large pot or Dutch Oven on medium-high flame. Add the ground beef with garlic, salt, and pepper. Cook stirring occasionally for nearly 6 – 7 minutes, till the meat turns brown. Add the onions and saute till they get transparent for 2 – 3 minutes. Add carrots and celery and saute for 3 – 5 minutes. Add cabbage stir well and cook for nearly 5 minutes till it becomes a little soft.
- Now add the beef broth or stock, diced tomatoes, parsley, dried thyme, garlic powder. Bring to a boil and reduce the medium-low flame. Let it cook for 15 – 20 minutes, till the cabbage and carrots become soft. Season it with salt, pepper, and dried thyme according to taste. Garnish the Cabbage and Ground Beef Soup with chopped parsley while serving.
How To Make Cabbage Beef Soup In Slow Cooker
- Let the ground beef with garlic, salt and pepper, meat, onions, carrots, celery, and cabbage get cooked in the large pot or Dutch Oven as mentioned above. Then add the browned ground beef, veggies, broth, and other spices to the slow cooker. Keep it on low flame and let it get cooked for nearly 3 – 4 hours. Cook till the vegetables get soft and soup is ready.

Cabbage And Ground Beef Soup With Beef Broth
Ingredients
- 2 tablespoons olive oil
- 1 pound 450 grams ground beef
- 4 cloves garlic minced
- salt and pepper
- 1 large onion chopped
- 2 carrots sliced
- 2 stalks celery chopped
- 4 cups cabbage chopped
- 5 cups beef broth / stock
- 28 ounces can tomatoes diced
- 2 tablespoons parsley chopped
- 2 teaspoons dried thyme
- 2 teaspoons garlic powder
- chopped parsley for garnish

Instructions
- Heat oil in large pot or dutch oven on medium-high flame. Then add the ground beef with garlic, salt and pepper. And saute for nearly 6 - 7 minutes or till the beef turns brown, stirring occasionally.
- Add the onions and mix well, saute for nearly 2 - 3 minutes , till the onions turn transparent.
- Add carrots and celery, stir well and saute for 3 - 4 minutes. Add the cabbage and mix well and saute for nearly 5 minutes, till the cabbage becomes little soft.
- Finally add the beef broth or stock, diced tomatoes, celery, dried thyme, garlic powder and stir well. Bring this to a boil. Put the flame on medium-low , cover and simmer for nearly 15 - 20 minutes. Cook till the cabbage and carrots become soft.
- Taste the cabbage soup and adjust the salt, pepper and dried thyme. Garnish the Ground Beef and Cabbage Soup with chopped parsley while serving.
Notes
- the cabbage soup is very flexible any veggies of your taste can be added
- any kidney beans, Italian seasoning or any other spices of your choice can be added
- if not ground beef, you can change to beef, chicken, sausage and bacon.
- instead to beef broth or stock , the vegetable stock can be used.
